Zenu Cotton Hammock Bag
The Zenu women from San Jacinto, Bolivar in Northern Colombia, have a long tradition of being expert weavers. The loom is a staple of many Zenu homes, and for generations Zenu women have been making high quality cotton hammocks, and now, lovely “Mochila” bags.
In recent decades indigenous peoples, like the Zenu, have been victimized by militant guerilla groups and privately funded paramilitaries. Ever resilient, they have survived and continue to share their weaving traditions.
